Afghanistan Denounces U.S. Strikes on Iran

(MENAFN) On Sunday, Afghanistan strongly denounced the United States’ military strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, while several other Asian nations voiced unease over rising tensions in the Middle East.

The Afghan government criticized Washington’s recent air assault on Iranian nuclear infrastructure, describing the operation as a threat to regional stability. Officials in Kabul labeled the action a breach of Iran’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and called for diplomatic efforts to defuse the crisis.

The regional climate worsened following a Sunday statement from U.S. President Donald Trump, who confirmed that American forces had executed "very successful" air raids against three of Iran’s nuclear installations, sparking concerns about a possible expansion of conflict.

According to reports, the United States deployed six bunker-buster bombs from B-2 stealth aircraft on Iran’s Fordo enrichment facility. Additionally, multiple submarine-launched cruise missiles struck key nuclear sites in Natanz and Isfahan.

In response, Iran appealed to the United Nations Security Council to urgently convene and formally denounce what it called American aggression, urging accountability for those violating global law.

Neighboring countries joined the chorus of criticism. Both China and Pakistan issued formal condemnations of the U.S. attacks.

Meanwhile, Australia stopped short of supporting the American operation. A government spokesperson, cited by media, emphasized the need for restraint and diplomatic dialogue, quoting President Trump’s own words that "now is the time for peace."

"The security situation in the region is highly volatile. We continue to call for de-escalation, dialogue, and diplomacy," the spokesperson stated. Although expressing concern over Iran’s military ambitions, the official clarified that Canberra did not endorse the U.S. bombing campaign.

"We have been clear that Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile program has been a threat to international peace and security," the spokesperson added.
